Trying to find a church...

Hey all,

I've been spending most of today researching churches around the area to try and find one where I can feel comfortable. I found a listing for a gay affirming church in my area but upon further investigation couldn't figure out where the heck it was or if it really existed.

Since then I've just been emailing different churches to see...which is scary. I haven't heard back from any yet. I'd appreciate any prayers you guys could offer so that I can find a fellowship in my town as well as here :)

So my first response from one of the churches was that the pastor would prefer to speak to me in person about it. My gut feels very uncomfortable about this and I certainly don't want to walk into a trap where they try to de-gay me.    I don't know what to do.

I am not sure I would meet with him. If the church was gay affirming then the Pastor most likely could tell you that without any meeting.

oh I'm praying for you hun, I hope you find one. We have a church listing here on our website of welcome churches, it's not finished but that might be a starting place for you too.

I agree, you don't need a meeting for him to tell you if the church is affirming or not. This think he is going to use it as an opportunity to comdemn you. Also check out GCFs affirming church directory or other directories. Emailing is also a great new way!
