Hi

Postby rcgirl » July 4th, 2010, 1:45 am

Hi. This is my first time ever to a Gay forum that is Christian, or to ever be around Gay Christians. I myself am gay, and a Christian, that is very hard to say together, for I have been taught and told it is wrong. I have been living as my true self, my gay lifestyle for 4 years now.

I am very leery of Christians, I am from the Bible Belt and have had others beliefs pushed on me and so it is very hard, the last Church I went to was very conforming and felt like you had to be a certain way, and I have just been through a lot with Christians and the Church I suppose so I'm trying to slowly come back, it is hard.

Anyhow, my name is Tammy - RCgirl for Rainbow Connection Girl (for my partner and I have our own Gay Forum for a few years now).

I am 32 and have been with my partner for 4 years, divorced and I help raise her (our) 3 kids. :)

I also go by tink online and sometimes in real life. :)

Welcome, Tammy! I am glad you decided to join! I, like you, have been fed up with Christians and church. But I have come to realize that God doesn't force us to be or do anything. He lovingly transforms us into who He wants us to be when we allow Him to.

The thing I love most about GCF is that no one here forces any one belief on anyone. We discuss freely our differences and find strength in the one thing we have in common, and that's our love for Jesus Christ.

This site if full of great information about be a Christian first, then how to be a gay christian. This has been a blessing to me because, physically, I am not in an affirming environment and I often feel alone. But I have a wonderful community and support in this ministry and I hope you will find the same.

Again, welcome!!!!

Welcome to GCF!

I'm so glad you are here, and I can promise you that many of us can relate to everything you just said. I'm in the Bible belt myself, so I completely understand. Pull up a chair, make yourself comfortable. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Welcome to GCF, Tammy.

It's a pleasure to have you with us. I definitely understand your having walls built up. Hopefully, in time, the sincerity and love of this community will help you to lower them, at least around us. But, there's no rush. Always feel free to say or not say, depending on your comfort level.

As many have stated, we can certainly relate to some of your experiences. I was raised Pentecostal, and have certainly dealt with the judgment and ignorance of a LOT of Christians. Thankfully, my relationship with Christ was never damaged by my frustration with Christians. Hopefully, this community can help show a lot of other people out there that not all Christians are stuck in a 2000 yr old cultural worldview, and that many of us do, indeed, strive to walk out the love and affirmation of Christ.

Make yourself at home. We're glad to have you with us.
